…it is possible to have a living, exciting, challenging relationship with God, as His children, because Jesus died for us on the Cross.
The Baptist Union
We are a Baptist church and are members of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and the Southern Counties Baptist Association. Further details for both these organisations (BUGB and SCBA) are available here on the BUGB website.
Church membership
In a Baptist church, all major decisions are reached collectively by the church membership.
Leaders can advise but it is the members who decide. Usually, a person can become a church member if they are a follower of Jesus and have been in active attendance and involvement with their Baptist church for at least six months.
Being baptised
As a Baptist church, we practise baptism by full immersion in water, either in our own baptistry or in the sea. This (non-compulsory) practice, whereby a person is dipped below the surface of the water for a second or two, symbolises their decision to become a follower of Jesus.
