At Castlehold we take our safeguarding responsibilities very seriously. Our aim is to ensure the church is a safe and trusted environment at all times.

All leaders receive regular safeguarding training.

Everyone working with children or adults at risk has been DBS-checked.

We will always take any disclosure, accusation or suspicion of abuse seriously.

Responding to safeguarding concerns or allegations

If you have reason to be concerned about the welfare of a child or young person, you should follow these steps:

  • DO observe or listen carefully.
  • DO make notes.
  • DO NOT ask leading questions.
  • DO NOT promise that you will not tell anyone else.

Then please contact one of our safeguarding officers directly.

If you are unable to reach a safeguarding officer, use a helpline:

Isle of Wight Children’s Social Care: 0300 300 0117 – call any time, day or night.

Police: If there is immediate danger, call 999.

NSPCC: 0808 800 5000 (or, if you are 18 or under, call 0800 11 11).

Childline: 0800 11 11 – call any time for free, confidential help or advice.
