Disability
Towards a better understanding...
Many people live with a disability.
Some disabilities are visible; others are hidden.
Most non-disabled people have a limited understanding of the many forms disability takes, and cannot fully imagine what it is like to live with a disability.
Jesus met many disabled people and treated them with understanding and loving care for their needs. As should our church.
In 2022, our minister Adrian took a sabbatical and immersed himself in the subject of disability. He aimed to better understand the different forms of disability, and how Castlehold can become a more inclusive and welcoming church for those with diverse needs.
During his sabbatical, Adrian asked questions, talked to people living with a disability and to those who work with them. He read widely on the subject and gained practical experience as a volunteer, working with both adults and children in community settings.
Adrian invites you to read about his sabbatical experiences here and to consider how you would answer the question he asks at the end.
